| Peter Engler makes his 8th
return visit to All Through The House and Stoughton’s
Victorian Holiday Weekend. Honored as being an American
Treasure, his annual trek to Stoughton draws visitors
each year from around the Upper Midwest. Mr. Engler has
lived in the Ozarks a long time, and has been woodcarving
forever. It was largely through his efforts that woodcarving
developed in the Ozark hills and hollers after the Second
World War.
When you pick up a Peter Engler Santa, you notice the
clean strokes and attention to detail. These characteristics
naturally follow a lifetime of carving. But it is in
the subtle little cuts that character is developed and
brought to life. Yes, Mr. Engler’s carvings have
life, but more importantly, they are the reflections
and observations of one man's life.
Peter Engler IS the “Santa Claus” carver.
His warm, yet whimsical, Santa Claus carvings will put
a smile on even Scrooge’s face. He was featured
on HGTV’s American Artists series and has an extraordinary
ability to weave a story of his life experiences that
will appeal and entertain young and old alike.
Peter Engler will be at All Through The House from 10-5
Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday. Don’t miss this great
opportunity to get a hand-signed original from this living
legend. |

| Clock Tower Gifts is a charming
gift shop carrying items from local and collectible artists.
During Victorian Holiday Weekend the store will be featuring
rosemaler Patty Tofsland from 11am-2pm Saturday December
1st.
Rosemaling means rose or flower painting and is used
for Norwegian decorative painting. It began in eastern
Norway around 1750 and was picked up on in America when
travelers came with their beautiful rosemaled trunks.
Per Lysne, who called Stoughton home, came from Norway
and was instrumental in reviving the art in Wisconsin
by painting wagons.
Patty Tofsland is an award-winning rosemaler who has
painted on just about anything you can imagine. She
has done work at many people's homes as well as painted
on plates, bowls, Christmas ornaments, various boxes
and other surfaces.
Talk to the artist in person while she demonstrates
the art of rosemaling … a piece of Stoughton history!
